Wolfsberg. Town Panorama

We are looking at a circular panorama of Austrian Wolfsberg, from the high tower of the Church of St. Mark, located in the heart of the city. The first church in this area appeared in the 9th century, but the modern building dates back to the 13th century, it was built in the gothic and early baroque styles. It is interesting that in the church you can see the medieval graves of the knights buried here in the 15th and 16th centuries.

The first thing we can see on the screen is the central streets of the town of Hoherplatz, Kanalplatz and Getreidemarkt. They all are filled with crowds of tourists in the afternoon. Then, in the background of the image, we have a view of the Wolfsberg Castle, built on a high hill.

The exact date of the founding of the castle is unknown, but it is mentioned in historical documents of the 12th century. In the 16th century, the castle was significantly expanded and reinforced by an Italian architect. New defensive structures were to play an important role in protecting the village from the attacks of the Turks. Now, the castle, like other historic buildings of the town, is open to visitors.

When you turn the camera to the west, you can see the whole town, as well as the Alpine landscapes.
