Bayfield. Confederation Bridge

One of the most impressive structures in all of Canada is Confederation Bridge. It was built at the end of the twentieth century and connected the mainland with the island of Prince Edward. The total length of the bridge is almost 13 kilometers, it has 44 flights, 62 supports and a width of about 11 meters.

In 2016, it was the longest bridge in the world, among those that were built over the ice-covered water. The total cost of the project amounted to more than a billion dollars. The bending halfway to the island, which you can see in the background, is designed not because of natural features, but to ensure that drivers remain vigilant, because an accident can occur simply because of straight road monotony.

The bridge has good lighting and 300 streetlights help night-time drivers. Till 2032, the Confederation Bridge will be owned by Strait Crossing Bridge Limited, which will get revenue from both drivers who use the bridge, as well as from the federal government.
