Nin. Monument to Prince Branimir

One of the most famous monuments to the Croatian prince Branimir, who ruled the country at the end of the 9th century, is installed in the sea resort of Nin.

The four-meter sculpture of the first ruler of an independent Croatian state appeared on the embankment of the Adriatic Sea in 2007 and has become one of the main objects of photography which attracts tourists from all over the world.

The place was not chosen accidentally, as the residence of Prince Branimir was in Nin. The Pope supported the prince who didn’t support Byzantium.

A lot of streets, parks, cafes, and other objects are named after the Croatian prince, and one of the highest state awards of Croatia is also named after Prince Branimir. June 7th, the day of Branimir’s coronation, became the day of diplomacy in Croatia and the Day of the Town of Nin.

We can also see a beautiful stone bridge, as well as the church tower on the opposite shore of the bay.
