Novigrad. Veliki Trg

If you walk along the seaside, by the old crooked narrow streets of Novigrad, you will come to Veliki trg (Big Square). The bell tower of the church located on it can be seen from every corner of the city center.

The church is named after the holy Pelagia and Maximilian and was built in the sixth century. The church is famous for its stone artifacts and the Psalter of the fifteenth century, found in the crypt. The high bell tower was built in 1883 and is like the bell tower of St. Mark’s Basilica in Venice, and its top is crowned by a statue of the patron saint of the city, St. Pelagia.
