Beautiful and charming town Rakovnik lies 50 kilometres west from the capital city of Praha. Our webcam shows the 400 metre-long central square, called Husovo Square (“Husovo namesti”), with two of the town’s most interesting historical and architectural monuments. Rakovnik is divided in two parts — Rakovnik I and Rakovnik II — with town’s center belonging to the first one.

Our webcam shows the charming 16th-century building of the Town Hall with clear late Baroque features and the Church of Saint Bartholomew, which dominates over the opposite side of the square. The Church of Saint Bartholomew is famous for its large bell and beautifully decorated interior, and is a symbol of Rakovnik. It is a high Gothic church built in the 14th-century, in those times when Rakovnik was not even yet called Rakovnik, but Rokitka (after the local river). The church was built on the site of an older 12th-century Saint Nicholas Church, erected with the assistance of Charles IV, King of Bohemia.

As in many other Czech towns, you can also find a charming castle here in Rakovnik. A 15th-century Křivoklát castle lies not far from the town and is one of the most visited tourist places outside the town’s borders.
