Parnu. Knight's Square

This webcam is located in beautiful Pärnu, which is the fourth-largest city in Estonia. It is installed on the building of the Pärnu Hotel and features wonderful view over Knight’s Square (or Rüütli Square), which is the main square of this resort town. To the right, we can observe the building of the Swedish Bank “Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken”, to the left — Asian Village Restaurant and Pärnus Restaurant.

On the square stands the Monument to declaring the independence of the Republic of Estonia. This is is one of the major landmarks of Pärnu. By its shape, it depicts the balcony of the historical Endla Theatre in the original size. “Manifesto to the Peoples of Estonia” was publicly read out for the first time in 1918 from the balcony of the Endla Theatre and Society House, which stood where Pärnu Hotel is standing today. The manifest of independence is written on the wall of the balcony in the old and modern Estonian language, and Braille.

To the right from the Monument can be seen a flagstaff with the official flag of Estonia. Near Pärnu Hotel stands another important monument, the Monument to the historical Endla Theatre.
