Tampere. View of the City from Näsinneula Tower
The camera is installed in a rotating restaurant, in the observatory tower, Näsinneula, which is 134 meters high (the antenna is 168 meters high). Open on May 1, 1971, the tower immediately became one of the symbols of the city of Tampere, and in the same year was placed on the stamps, which spread the news about the new attraction of Finland around the whole country.
It’s interesting, the height of the tower was determined with the help of a helicopter; the architects needed a perfect view of the city and its surroundings, so, at the design stage, they were constantly rising into the sky over Tampere.
The high-speed elevator of the tower was renovated in 1997; it is able to take tourists and locals up to the restaurant in thirty-two seconds. This makes it the fastest in Finland. There is also a staircase with 700 steps, but do not worry, in case of a power failure, there is a backup diesel power station.
