Bad Herrenalb. Panorama of the Resort
The resort town of Bad Herrenalb is located in the famous mountain massif, Schwarzwald (The Black Forest). Its highest point is Mount Feldberg. It has a height of 1,493 meters above sea level and is located at the opposite end of the massif.
The history of the resort began long before tourists from all over Germany started to come here in large numbers. In the middle of the 12th century, a Cistercian monastery (Catholic monastic order) was built on this site. Bad Herrenalb only became known as a popular holiday destination in the middle of the last century.
The main architectural attractions of the resort are on the territory of the monastery. The buildings that were restored in 1536 have been preserved until now, the earlier buildings are represented only by some elements. For example, visitors to the monastery can look at the original porch of 1200, built in the Romanesque style.
Bad Herrenalb is primarily a health resort, with sanatoria, located near the thermal springs. This camera is installed in one such sanatorium hotel, Schwarzwald Panorama.
