Bayerisch Eisenstein. The Border of the Czech Republic and Germany from Mount Großer Arber

The camera is installed near the top of Großer Arber and is directed toward the ski slopes. Großer Arber is the highest point of the ridge of Šumava, so it offers a good overview of the Bavarian district of Regen.

In winter, the camera shows the skiers and snowboarders who ride on the trails of the resort Fürstlich Hohenzollernsche ARBER-BERGBAHN. Vacationers can stay right here on the side of a mountain, for example, in Arberschutzhaus Hotel which you can see on your screen.

In the background, we can see the mountains which form the border between Germany and the Czech Republic. The nearest border towns are Bayerisch Eisenstein (German side) and Zelezna Ruda (Czech side).

Some radar equipment is also mounted on Großer Arber. Built in the 80s of the last century, radomes (spherical covers to protect antennas) are clearly visible from afar and have become a kind of visiting card of the mountain top. Antennas are part of the air defense of the NATO military-political bloc.
