Heide. The Water Tower

There are two outstanding buildings in the city of Heide, in the north of Germany — the Water Tower at the Market Square and the Scream Tower in Heide Park.

The Water Tower (we can see it on the left) is the main symbol of the city. Built in 1903, the tower combines several architectural styles. It is made of rocks, bricks and granite. The construction of the tower was due to the epidemic of typhoid and had to solve the problem of the centralized water supply. It was also used to extinguish fires. In 2005, the tower was restored and is now used as the registrar. There is also a room for wedding celebrations.

Another tall building is Scream Tower at the amusement park. The attraction is based on Gyro-Tower with an observation deck, which wasn’t too popular with tourists and locals. Now, up to 40 people can use it at the same time. Thrill lovers fall freely from the huge tower.
