Münsingen, with a population of about 14,000 people, is the largest municipality in its area. It is almost entirely (98.5%) refers to the biosphere reserve, Swabian Alb, created in 2008 and included into the World Network of Biosphere Reserves of UNESCO a year later.

The Baden-Württemberg lands that you see on the screen abound in various kinds of animals and plants, including rare ones. The Biosphere Reserve has red kites, peregrine falcons, honey-buzzards, boreal owls, forest larks, wheatears, light-shining chiffchaffs, long-eared owls, alpine barbels and some unique plants, like rare orchids and weather thistle.

We are looking at the panorama of Münsingen from Gutsbetsirk-Münsingen. This district has been used as a military training ground since its inception. Now, you will often meet tourist groups there, who visit the cemetery of Russian prisoners in the Second World War.

Guests will be pleasantly surprised by well-preserved Münsingen houses, built in a classical German style, as well as St. Martin’s Church and the ruins of castles surrounding Münsingen.
