Oberstaufen. Community Panorama

The panoramic camera on Mount Staufner shows us the German Oberstaufen. We are at an altitude of 1,032 meters above sea level, from where an excellent view of the whole city opens. This place was mentioned for the first time in documents of 868, but the modern history of the fair community began only in the 19th century, when the territory of Oberstaufen became part of Bavaria.

In the middle of the last century the community became famous, thanks to the Schroth-therapy method developed by the German doctor, Johann Schroth. The method was developed as early as 1820, but only gained wide popularity after 150 years. The essence of treatment using the Schroth-therapy method involves the alternation of days with restricted fluid intake.

Later, Oberstaufen obtained climatic resort status, and tourists began to come here to enjoy the magnificent nature on the border of Germany and Austria. In the vicinity of the community there are several ski resorts for every taste, with routes of varying degrees of difficulty.

In Oberstaufen itself, which you see on the screen, you can visit the Museum of Natural History and annual festivals, such as the Fasnatziestag carnival, dedicated to the victims of the plague.
