This is a unique, one of a kind exhibit at Bus Hostel. A standard meal from McDonald’s has been stored here since 2009! That year, on the 30th of October, the Icelanders could try popular dishes of this fast food restaurant for the last time.
A local resident, Hjörtur Smárason, bought a cheeseburger and fries to keep as a souvenir, which he kept in his garage. A few years later, he found that the look of the products had not changed and gave the food to the National Museum of Iceland, where it was kept for a year.
The exhibit has worldwide fame. Perhaps, because of this, Bus Hostel is not the cheapest in its category.
The staff jokes that this online broadcast is the most boring in the world :)
