Chamois. Fontana Fredda
We are at one of the tops of the ski resort of Cervino. Fontana Fredda offers an excellent panorama of several Valle d’Aosta villages, as well as views of the high mountain peaks. The rotary webcam, installed on the upper station of the cableway, shows chair lifts and countless mountain peaks.
One of the sharpest peaks shown by this camera belongs to the giant, Matterhorn. This mountain has a height of 4,478 meters above sea level and is located on the border of Italy and Switzerland. In the middle of the 19th century, about 10 groups of professional Alpinists tried to conquer the inaccessible peak, but the first successful ascent was made in 1865. Now, the tops of this mountain are very popular with fans of mountaineering. Especially popular is the Matterhorn’s memorable pyramidal shape.
Other mountains in this picture do not have the outstanding height (in comparison with the Matterhorn) but are still of interest to conquerors of the Alpine heights. If you want to see the beauty of the Italian mountains for yourself, you should buy a ski pass at the Cervino resort. At different times of the year, it costs from 40 to 50 euros. This is the price of a one-day ticket, which allows you to use any lifts.
