Villar Focchiardo. Panorama of the City

Villar-Focchiardo, at first glance, seems an ordinary Italian settlement in the Turin hills but, in fact, thousands of tourists come here every year. Sacra di San Michele, a medieval abbey, has been preserved on the mountain that you see on the right.

The abbey, over its thousand-year history, experienced many ups and downs; desolation and devastation gave way to the rapid development of the highland settlement. Now, Sacra di San Michele is the most important architectural monument of the Alpine region of Italy and the area around the abbey became a national park, named Oasi di protezione Sacra di San Michele.

Not all guests of Villars Focchiardo dare to visit this landmark, because only difficult hiking trails are laid to the abbey.
