We are now in the very heart of Riga, looking at the Saint John’s Church (or “Svētā Jāņa Evaņģēliski luteriskā baznīca” in Latvian). This place is one of the major tourist destinations within city bounds. Beautiful and narrow streets around it attract people with numerous places of interest such as architectural monuments and museums.
In a short walking distance from here are located The Museum of Decorative Art, Saint John’s Church, The Latvian Museum of Photography and The Porcelain Museum of Riga, in addition to a dozen cafes, restaurants and several hotels. This is a very popular meeting place for residents of the city and its guests.
The Saint John’s Church is open to visitors and is often used as a concert venue. If you wish, you can visit the roof of the church and enjoy the panoramic view of the capital. The Spanish flag seen from here marks the Street of Jāņa iela, where is located one of the popular city SPAs “La Stella”.
