Sigulda. View over the Castle

We are now observing the remnants of the famous Sigulda Medieval Castle. Today it is so hard to imagine that it once served as the principal fortress and residence of the Land Marshal of the Livonian Order.

During the Polish – Swedish war the castle was seriously damaged, as well as during the Great Northern War. Its gate tower and southwestern part have remained untouched and represent today the most important tourist attraction of the entire Gauja valley.

This webcam captures not only the proud ruins of the castle, but also the beautiful scenery around it. Do not miss the chance to take a look at the charming landscape right from the castle walls once travelling around Latvia.
