Hardap. Skemerhoek Farm

A camera on the border of Namibia and Botswana shows an amazing place, the Skemerhoek Farm, built at a considerable distance from large settlements amidst the endless African desert. The nearest village, Gochas, is located 130 kilometers from the farm.

For tourists, this camera is interesting primarily because it shows the weather conditions near Kgalagadi Transfrontier. This national park, on the border of South Africa and Botswana, is conditionally divided into two large reserves, Kalahari Gemsbok in South Africa and Gemsbok in Botswana.

The total area of the park is 38,000 square kilometers. The word “Kgalagadi” translates as “a place of thirst,” which is not surprising for almost any geographical object of Africa. The park is located mainly in the southern part of the Kalahari Desert. The landscape of the park consists of red sand dunes, rare vegetation, and the dried up riverbed of the Auob River.

The park is open for visits in special tourist areas. It is interesting that in the camps of the park, tourists have to take care of their food themselves, as there are no restaurants and cafes here.
