Garda. Lake Garda
The Italian community of Garda is just one of the many small settlements on the shore of the eponymous lake. It received such a loud name, thanks to the bay where the village is built, also called Garda.
There are monuments of architecture, built in different centuries, starting from the tenth century. Basically, these are monasteries and churches, but there are also defensive fortresses, castles and ancient villas.
One of the most interesting places in this community is Punta San Vigilio Peninsula. On it is one of the churches of Garda, a historic hotel and a pier (which has already become a tourist attraction) in the Bay of Sirens.
In July, the annual “Premio Riviera Laurence Olivier e Vivien Leigh” award is held in Garda. This award is dedicated to two outstanding Italian actors who lived in these places in the 1950s.
