Sergiyev Posad. The Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius. View from the Mountain Blinnaya

Blinnaya Mountain is one of the best viewpoints in Sergiev Posad with a wonderful view of the famous Holy Trinity, Sergius Lavra.

The camera is set a few meters from the viewing platform and shows not only the monastery but also the modern sculpture dedicated to the 700th anniversary of St. Sergius of Radonezh, as well as traffic on the nearby streets, Sergievskaya and Voznesenskaya.

The mountain got its name thanks to many pancake houses, which appeared here in the fifteenth century, when there was a legendary “Pancake Yard.” Pilgrims, who visited the local monastery, always came here to taste pancakes. People call this place “Blinka.”

In the Soviet times, not only the monastery but also pancake houses were closed, and in the middle of the last century, the city flea market was located here.
