Celje. Open Pool

Water sports in the Slovenian town of Celje are based in two places. In winter, the competitions take place at the Golovec indoor swimming pool, located in the city center. In the summer, swimming lovers move to the western suburbs, to the outdoor swimming pool on the banks of the Savinja River.

Such migration of athletes has been observed for the past 60 years, so it is clear that the Celje has a good tradition of water sports. Both pools, indoor and outdoor, are periodically reconstructed. For example, Golovec was renovated in 2010 and the 25-meter Golovec pool has 8 tracks. Competitions of various levels, including water polo, are held here.

We are returning to the open-air pool. In the background, we can see a new children’s pool in the form of three colorful circles with a modern playground. Professionals train in another zone of the complex, on the left, where you can see a part of the 50-meter L-shaped pool with a slide. Close to the water sports facilities are several grounds for beach volleyball and a basketball court, which is sometimes used as a field for mini-football.

Near the pool is a parking lot and three-star, hotel Faraon.
