This webcam is located in Nova Gorica, a small town on the border with Italy, which has over recent 60 years served as the urban centre of the sunny Goriška. The town was founded after the Second World War, when in 1947 the Paris Peace Treaty changed political borders between Yugoslavia and Italy. The old town of Gorizia is now outside the new borders of Yugoslavia and is a part of Italy. Its new part, called Nova Gorica, today belongs to Slovenia. Gorizia and Nova Gorica are divided by a wall, which in some way reminds many of us the Berlin Wall.

Nova Gorica is a charming place famous for its mild climate and beautiful gardens. This town attracts tourists thanks to its numerous cultural and architectural sites. Among them are the National Theatre of Slovenia, the Museum of Goriška (situated in the Kromberk Castle), the Church of the Annunciation of Our Lady and the 17th-century Franciscan monastery and the beautiful Solkan Bridge.

Europe’s largest casino, Perla, is also located here and captured by our webcam. In addition to gaming, Perla offers its guests a wonderful four-star hotel, luxury restaurants and spa-centres (even a real small beach right on the roof of the main complex). Local life is full of bright moments and unforgettable memories. Concerts of famous singers interchange with modern dance shows and other interesting international events.
