Triglav National Park. Lake Bohinj

This webcam shows us the picturesque Bohinj Lake. This is the largest lake in Slovenia, located between the high and beautiful peaks of Julian Alps and fed by glaciers. The small but very beautiful Savica waterfall is situated nearby.

On the embankment above the east bank of Bohinj Lake stands the Church of St. John the Baptist (in Slovenian — Janez Krstnik). Estimated age of this church is about 1000 years, though the first known recorded mention is from the middle of the 15th century. This church is famous for its ancient frescoes (dating back to 11, 13 and 16th centuries) with scenes from the life of John the Baptist and a large painted image of St. Christopher.

The green valley around the beautiful lake attracts people with local stunning views and a huge variety of activities. In winter time the Bohinj Lake becomes a popular winter sports destination for skiers, snowboarders, ice climbers, as well as ice skaters. During the summer, this place is frequented by swimmers, kayakers and fishermen as well. Biking, trekking and climbing are among the most typical tourist activities in the area.
