Llucmajor. Church of St. Michael the Archangel

We are heading to the largest city of Mallorca. No, this is not Palma, as you might think. The largest territory on the island is the city of Llucmajor. Unlike the coastal resorts, Llucmajor modestly hides in the depths of the island. We recommend that you get acquainted with the luxurious architecture of this ancient city.

From the hotel Antic H. España we have a magnificent view of the central part of the city. In the center of the frame, above Llucmajor, stands the ancient church of St. Michael the Archangel.

The first church in this city appeared back in 1259, but the modern church that you see on the screen, dates back to the beginning of the 18th century. The construction of the Church of St. Michael the Archangel began in 1784 and lasted almost 40 years.

The church is built in the styles of neoclassicism and baroque. Its exterior is characterized by the absence of complex and elegant forms, which is, however, compensated for by the interior decoration of the temple. You can enter the church from three sides. The entrances are decorated by portals with arches and stairs. The main building of the church, at the last stage of the construction, was completed with a chapel and bell tower.
