Istanbul. Panoramic View Over the City

One of the most beautiful cities of the world, Istanbul, attracts millions of tourists every year. Known for centuries ago under names of Constantinople and Byzantium, the present city offers its guests outstanding cultural and architectural sites. European traditions and Asian culture create a unique and unforgettable mixture of feelings and memories.

This webcam is located in the very center of the city, on the right shore of the Bosphorus Strait, and captures some of its most interesting monuments. The beautiful Bosphorus Bridge divides the strait in two parts and at the same time thus connects two continents, Asia and Europe. The length of the bridge is 1560 metres and it has lately become a pedestrians-free zone due to the numerous suicide attempts.

Near the water we can see the beautiful Ortakoy Mosque, also known as the Grand Imperial Mosque of Sultan Abdulmecid. This mosque was built in the Neo-Baroque style and today looks like a wonderful picture from the past. In the middle of the strait stands the charming Maiden’s Tower. Today it serves as a very popular cafe and restaurant and features one of the best sea views in Istanbul.

Low-rise buildings are typical for the whole center of Istanbul and it makes its main religious landmarks even more visible. Minarets of the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia can be clearly seen almost from every point. These two places definitely are the most visited places of the city. As well as most beautiful and mysterious. Don’t forget to add them to your “must-see” list. They are worth it!
