Superior. Rocky Mountains

The town of Superior in Boulder County was founded at the coal fields in 1896. The high quality of the coal gave the town its name (Superior means excellent). Active coal mining continued until the closure of the mine in 1945. This was followed by an outflow of people, after which Superior became a quiet farming community.

The webcam offers panoramic views of the northwest of the city, where the Rocky Mountains meet the Great Plains. In the distance, you can see the top of Longs Peak, Flagstaff and Indian Peak.
