Tampa. Tiger Enclosure

The camera in the Vacation Rotation area of Big Cat Rescue allows us to estimate the size of the tiger’s enclosure. Only this territory occupies a whole hectare, and the total area of the shelter is 27 hectares, which has not only indoor aviaries and lawns for walks but also ponds, one of which also has a camera.

Each tiger can stay on the Vacation Rotation playground for two weeks. Recreation of the animal in this zone is an integral part of the rehabilitation program. All the animals you see on the screen, came to the shelter from their owners, who believed they could keep wild cats at home.

A lot of scandals have brought some disrepute to Big Cat Rescue. Constant complaints about fences (the height of which can lead to the escape of wild cats), scandals with other shelters, the long registration of necessary documents for keeping cats — the shelter staff has had to pass through all this to fulfill their purpose, which is saving wild cats.

The shelter is located at the north end of Tampa, so tourists can easily get to Big Cat Rescue while traveling along the coast of the Gulf of Mexico. There are several programs for visiting the shelter, like a personal tour with photograph, which costs $150.
