Webcam in the heart of the medieval Czech town Polička, located in the Pardubice Region. The town is rather small and not really known for tourists, but very beautiful and interesting. It is said, that Polička is a gateway to the Žďár Hills (“Žďárské vrchy”), which are one of the most beautiful parts of the Czech-Moravian Highlands.

This webcam shows the Marian Column and the Baroque building of the Town Hall. The tower belonging to the Saint Jacob’s Church can be also seen in the back.

The historical town centre is ringed by an impressive wall, which is 1220 metres long, and fortified with 19 towers. Its gallery is, by the way, open for tourists.

Polička can be an interesting all-year-round destination for enthusiasts of ecotourism and vacation in nature. The Žďár Hills (part of the Highlands surrounding Polička) are really great for walking and cycling. There are about 100 kilometers of marked tourist footpaths in the area.

The town attracts beer experts from all over the world and is the hometown of the very delicious and tasty beer type, served in the local restaurant called Hrom do Police. Polička beer starts its history many hundred years ago, in the year 1517, and has been always brewed in some decent quantities, but is believed to be one of the best beers in the whole Czech Republic!
