Whyalla. Panorama of the City

The cameras are installed on a communication tower in the eastern part of the Australian city of Whyalla. The town was founded on the site of the large-scale mining and smelting giant BHP Billiton. At the beginning of the XX century, a port for the transportation of iron ore was built across the Upper Spencer Gulf. The city itself originated in 1920, when the port grew to such an extent that additional jobs appeared there.

In the 70s of the last century, the industry in Whyalla was experiencing a deep crisis, but in the XXI century the South Australian economy has begun a new round of development, so the city has again become an important industrial center of the region.

The city has an unusual attraction; the city government put a decommissioned corvette “Whyalla” 2 kilometers from the coast as a monument dedicated to the Whyalla shipyard. The ship became the center of the city museum opened in 1988.
