Heiligenblut am Großglockner. View from Berggasthaus Wallackhaus

Berggasthaus Wallackhaus is built at an altitude of 2,304 meters above sea level, near the Untertauern mountain road. You can find information about the hotel on this web page, but right now we are interested in the cableways and ski slopes laid in the vicinity of the hotel.

At the bottom of the screen, we can see the Panorambahn lift station and a large parking lot next to it. Under this cableway, there are only two ski runs, but due to the difficult landform, both of them are of interest, even for experienced skiers.

Besides skiers going up to the summit of Schareck (3,123 meters above sea level), in the picture, we can see the high mountain road, Untertauern. In the winter, cars rarely pass through it, but in the summer, traffic can be much more intense because travelers can easily drive through the Carinthian Mountains and enjoy magnificent landscapes from observation platforms built on many sections of the road.

By the way, in the summer, one more road appears there, but it is a gravel serpentine road, heading in the same direction as the cabs of the funicular.
