Kaunertal. The Top of Karlesjoch
We are heading to the border of Austria and Italy, passing along Mount Karlesjoch. In such places, you will often find joint ski resorts, where you can ride on the slopes of both countries. In this regard, Karlesjoch differs from similar places because there is only one ropeway from the Austrian Kaunertal to the top.
With an altitude of more than three kilometers above sea level, you will see the snow-covered slopes of the Kaunertaler glacier at any time of the year. You can get there in a matter of minutes, thanks to the eight-seater cabins of the Karlesjochbahn lift. It was built in 2008 and connected the famous Kaunertaler Gletscherstraße mountain road with Karlesspitze.
Kaunertaler Gletscherstraße is considered one of the most beautiful Alpine roads. It has 29 sharp turns, the highest bus stop in Austria, and is a picturesque site, built on the shore of Gepatsch-Stausee.
The swivel camera shows us observation platforms, which are especially popular in the summer months when hikers replace skiers.
