Maria Alm. Panorama of Hochkönig Mountain

The camera flying above the Aberg station has chosen the giant, Hochkönig Mountain as its main target. We’ll talk about it a little later, but first let’s look at the lower part of the screen, where footpaths can be seen in the summer, and the ski runs of Maria Alm resort in the winter.

The camera, which rises in the air 1-2 times a month, demonstrates the infrastructure of the resort very well. The image shows the workload of the lifts, among which there are both chairlifts and cabins, many restaurants, cafes and mountain huts, and we can also see the Maria Alm tourist areas.

Now, have a look at the background of the picture, where the majestic mountain of Hochkönig is located. The height of its main peak is 2,941 meters, while, as you can see, the neighboring peaks are only a little lower than Hochkönig.

Tourists climbed the mountain for the first time at the beginning of the 19th century, but local hunters began to explore the mountain much earlier. It is interesting that the first tourist route, laid by Peter Karl Toursizer, is still one of the variants of the conquest of Hochkönig.
