Maria Neustift. View of the Village from Mount Glasenberg

On your screens is a small village in the Austrian mountains. Maria Neustift is known primarily for its tourist routes to the surrounding mountains and hills. The tourist component plays an important role in the economy of the community, but apart from the supporters of outdoor activities, history and architecture lovers are also welcome here.

As you can see, the huge pilgrimage church of Maria Neustift towers over the village. Magnificent interiors and stunning medieval architecture amaze with their grandeur.

The church was built in the 15th century. Unfortunately, it was badly damaged during a big storm, so now we can only enjoy the neo-Gothic building, recreated in the late 19th century. Originally, it was a small wooden chapel, built by the monks of the Benedictine abbey, almost 1000 years ago.
