Reutte District. Lech Valley
High mountains with large valleys and small rivers, meadows and fields represent the Austrian wilderness. The nearest settlements are located 6 kilometers southeast of the Bernhardseck Mountain Hut, from which we are looking at the Lech Valley.
The hut was built in the 1930s but has been renovated several times, so you can get quality housing in the mountains with excellent service. Below, you can see the archive photo of Bernhardseck, taken in the twentieth century. The cottage is located in one of the best places of the valley and is surrounded by the Lech and Bavarian Alps. In summer, you can easily get there by foot if you have a map or GPS navigator. In winter, a ski track is laid directly to the hut, but there are also brave people who get there on snowshoes. The cost of living, at any time of the year, is € 21. Breakfast is included.
There are several slopes of neighboring mountains in Bernhardseck. They are not long, so you can go there with the whole family.
Cyclists can ride along Elbigenalp-Gibleralm-Bernhardseck. Its length is 5.6 kilometers, and it’s 800 meters above sea level. Travel time is about one and a half hour.
