Schröcken. Parish Church of Our Lady
We can see the center of the Austrian village of Schröcken, located near the German border. The area around the village was inhabited at the beginning of the fourteenth century. The settlement on the site of modern Schröcken belonged to different Austrian and German lands at various times. Since 1861, the village has belonged to Vorarlberg land.
You can see the architecturally dominant building of the village, the Church of Our Lady of Sorrows. The first church appeared in Schröcken in 1639. In 1863 it burned down but was almost immediately rebuilt. It is perfectly preserved to this day and is maintained in excellent condition.
The village itself is attractive, but due to the large ski resort of Warth-Schröcken, it has gained more popularity among tourists. The main part of the route is close to the village of Warth, but vacationers can stay anywhere between Schröcken and Warth, where there are cable car stations. Since 2013, Warth-Schröcken resort has become part of the huge ski complex, Ski Arlberg.
