St. Georgen im Attergau. Panorama from Lichtenberg Observation Tower
A beautiful observation tower on Mount Lichtenberg is located 40 kilometers northeast of Salzburg. The 36-meter tower looks light and somehow resembles an ordinary tree. There are 208 steps leading to the observation tower.
From a high tower you can see several Austrian villages, such as Weißenkirchen, Thanham, Hipping, Rixing and others. But, most tourists are interested in Attersee Lake, around which the old Austrian communities have long been transformed into popular European resorts.
In clear weather, high Alpine summits appear on the far side of Lake Attersee, such as the mountains of Zimnitz (1,745 meters above sea level) or Dachstein (2,995 meters high). The mountain hotel, Berggasthof Danter, is 700 meters from Lichtenberg. It has been hosting guests since 1960 and has become one of the attractions of the district.
The only thing that slightly spoils the magnificent panorama is the high station of cellular communication, built about 20 meters from the tower.
