Telfs. Community Panorama

On your screen is the panorama of the Tyrolean community of Telfs. This village was the center of the textile industry in the 19th century, which is why so many industrial buildings were built there. But tourists are more interested in the medieval churches of the town, as well as the Eyüp Sultan Mosque. Several interesting stories of Telfs are connected with it.

At the time of the opening, the mosque was the second in all of Austria. The first Muslim building appeared in Vienna in 1979. A 29-meter-high minaret was planned, but after the protests of residents, its height was reduced to 15 meters. Eyüp Sultan was opened in 2006 and loudspeakers are prohibited. The dispute around the mosque has become a hot topic in Austria and has not faded to this day.

The local population is loyal to the Roman Catholic parish of Telfs, shown by this camera. Its two towers have become a symbol of the community. The church in Neo-Romanesque style was built in the middle of the 19th century. Another religious monument of architecture is the Franciscan monastery, located in the center of Telfs.
