Bandar Seri Begawan. The Center of the City
This webcam is located in Bandar Seri Begawan, also known as Brunei Town. This is the capital city of the Sultanate of Brunei, one of the richest countries in the present world. The city is spread over the both shores of the River Brunei and astonishes the coming visitors with the local luxury and beautiful green and rich vegetation. The richest palace and the most expensive hotel of the world, both decorated with precious stones and metals, are situated here, in Bandar Seri Begawan.
One of the main landmarks of the city is the Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque. This mosque is usually used by the sultan during his official meetings. The mosque was built in 1958 by an Italian architect and features a golden dome and marble minarets, in addition to beautiful hall for praying and flourishing gardens. An artificial lagoon has been dig out in front of the mosque. In the middle of it stands a luxurious ceremonial ship intended for the sultan’s important official ceremonies.
The ancient district of the Water Village, so called Kampung Air, looks a bit strange in the surrounding richness and beauty. But, just don’t let the look of these old houses confuse you, because people who live here have all possible prizes of modern life, starting with high-speed Wi-Fi and ending with expensive yachts.
