Churchill. Northern Lights

The camera on the shore of the Hudson Bay gives us an incredible picture of the northern lights. We are located on the territory of the Churchill Northern Research Center, founded in 1976. The nearest Canadian city is 23 kilometers to the west.

The place for the construction of the center was not chosen accidentally, as there are three ecosystems present: marine biome, taiga, and tundra. Thanks to this combination, a huge variety of plants, birds, and mammals, including polar bears, can be found near the research center. The latter live in the territory of Wapusk National Park, but during the migration season, they can move toward the town of Churchill.

And of course, the Northern Lights are studied in detail at the Churchill Northern Studies Center. Scientists have visited these Canadian lands over the past 240 years to watch this unusual and beautiful natural phenomenon.

Late winter and early spring are the best time to observe the aurora, so in February and March this camera displays a great picture. Thanks to this webcam, you can enjoy sunrises and sunsets in North America.
