Baška Voda. Saint Nicholas on the Beach

A cozy and nice town of the Makarska Riviera, Baška Voda, is located 60 kilometers from Split and 75 kilometers from the international airport. Some time ago, this little fishing village was not known to anyone but today it is one of the most famous and most visited resorts in Croatia. Baška Voda is surrounded by pine forests on three sides and by a magnificent beach on the fourth side.

The resort attracts holidaymakers, due to the superb pebbly beaches and clear sea. For lovers of nightlife, the doors of numerous bars and discos are opened here and most are located right on the beach.

You can see the statue of St. Nicholas, the patron saint of sailors and travelers.

The first mention of the settlement dates back to 1688. Many of the ancient buildings and old churches, including St. Nicholas church with magnificent stained glass windows and the church of Sv. Lovre (1750), have been in existence since those ancient times.

When you come on holiday to Baška Voda, be ready for a piquant moment, as there is a nudist beach in the western part of the city.
