Omiš is a picturesque Croatian resort on the Adriatic coast, separated from the mainland by a high canyon. You can hardly find such a place in Croatia, where extrem sportsmen, beach lovers, and connoisseurs of ancient architectural monuments can be found.

This camera is installed on the slope of the canyon, where the famous fortress of Mirabella is located. In the picture, the urban development of Old Town and the long beach of Omiš are well seen, and in clear weather, the outlines of the island of Brač can be seen in the background of the image. At the end of the beach is the continuation of the Cetina river bed.

Although the area is called Old Town, we see mostly new buildings on the screen. As for the medieval sights, they are located higher along the slope of the canyon. The main one is the fortress of Mirabella, built in the 13th century to protect the town from pirate attacks.

One of the legends of Omiš is associated with the fortress. It says that during the attack of the Turks, in 1537, local residents shouted and shot from different parts of town and from the canyon as well, so the Turks thought that the army was too numerous and did not attack Omiš.
