Rijeka is one of the largest cities in Croatia. The city has got many names — Fiume (Italian), Pflaum (German), Rika or Reka (Croatian dialects). But they all mean the same thing — “river”.

As a river flows from one place to another and creates beautiful curves on the land, the history of this city has experienced as many ups and downs. Celts, Habsburgs and Yugoslavians. So many names and so many dramatic occurrences have left their footprints in the history of Rijeka, in its architecture and culture. A really unforgettable place, a certain “must see” when travelling around Croatia.
