This webcam is located on Square of Freedom, which is the main town square of Zatec, one of the oldest towns in the Northern Czech Republic. This is a very typical Czech main square with the building of the town hall dominating over it and a row of beautiful historical houses. In the middle of the square stands the column of the Holy Trinity, which successfully protected this town from plague during the entire medieval period.

It is known, that best panoramic views over Zatec open from the top of the Town Hall and the Tower (both from the 14th-century), which are standing on the opposite side of the square. If the weather is good enough, you will maybe even see the nearby Czech-German border. The historical center of this town was declared city sanctuary in 1961.

Zatec is also known for its old brewing industry. Here, on the Square of Freedom, we can find one of the oldest and smallest hop gardens in the world.
