Arcachon. The Bay and the Coast

This webcam is located in the wonderful resort town of Arcachon in the southwestern part of France. This place is famous for its tranquil sea and fresh seafood. The Bay of Arcachon has a wonderful 5 kilometres-long coastline. We can enjoy the view over the coast at low-tide when the local sea all of sudden turns into a beautiful desert with small yachts and boats standing in the middle of the sand dunes.

A long promenade runs alongside the beach. This place is very popular among local youth and visitors. People come here for a nice walk, a skating trip or a dinner in one of the charming French restaurants. From here start many of the town’s excursions, for example, tours to Cape Ferrat and the Bird Island.

On the southern end of the beachline lies the Dune of Pilat, which is about 3 kilometres long and is officially Europe’s largest sand dune.
