Nice. Promenade du Payon

The new promenade in Nice appeared near the famous Promenade des Anglais, in the area of Place Massena. Until 2011, there was a large bus station and highway. According to the design of architect Michel Pena, a new “green corridor” was to become a popular pedestrian zone, linking the Promenade des Anglais with the National Theater of Nice.

It must be said that all the aspirations of the architect came true, just after the opening of the du Peilles promenade. In the first week after the opening of the promenade, which took place on October 26, 2013, three children were injured on new playgrounds. Given the number of tourists and locals who have chosen the promenade du Paillon, this number of victims speaks only of the popularity of the new recreational area. Moreover, all the sites are made in compliance with all necessary safety standards.

The area of the new walking zone is about 12 hectares; 1,600 trees, 6,000 shrubs and 50,000 perennial plants were planted here. At the same time, it is forbidden to organize picnics or even just stroll on the Promenade’s lawns.

A rotary camera is installed in the southern part of the Promenade du Paillon, in the Paradis Hotel. On the screen, we can see most of the Promenade, as well as the Promenade des Anglais, the Ligurian Sea and a lot of sights of Nice.
