Paris. The Seine

The camera on the bank of one of the great rivers of France is directed towards the western suburbs of Paris. On the screen, we can see a skyscraper, as well as highways along the river. In the center, the shores are connected by one of the numerous bridges of Paris, the Mirabeau Bridge. Next to the building on which this webcam is installed, there is another bridge, Grenelle.

The 776-kilometer Seine has a source in the southern part of the Langres Plateau in Burgundy, at an altitude of 470 meters above sea level. After Paris, the riverbed has a more meandering structure. The mouth of the Seine is located in the bay of the same name, in the English Channel, near the town of Le Havre.

In the middle of the last century, the Seine was almost dead, due to the poor ecological situation. But, judging from the fact that, in recent years, such fish as Atlantic salmon have returned to the river, measures to clean the river have led to positive results.

Famous Parisian bridges across the Seine, although famous for their architecture, still cannot compete with one of the longest suspension bridges in the world, the bridge of Normandy. The length of the bridge, built in 1995, is more than 2 kilometers; you can see it on the way from Honfleur to Le Havre.
