This webcam is located on one of the beaches in a small town of Saint-Gilles-les-Bains, which lies on the western coast of the French island of Reunion, right in the Indian Ocean. View directly from the rescue service tower.

On the right side, you can see flags set out by the rescue service. These flags will inform you wherever waves are too high or sharks are too close. Green flag means there is no danger, yellow one gives warning that visitors of the beach should be careful, red one prohibits swimming at all.

A local diving school can be found right near the beach. Beautiful and small harbor seen on the picture stretches further and leads into the town.
