Brilon. Market Square
The small German town of Brilon, with a population of less than thirty thousand people, is located in the central part of the country. In the city and its surroundings, archeological expeditions often find ancient artifacts, which prove that modern Brilon lands were inhabited by the ancient Romans. But even if we count the history of Brilon since its mention in official documents, it appears that Brilon is more than 1000 years old!
In Germany, the city is called “the city of donkeys” because in the eighteenth to nineteenth centuries local people used donkeys instead of horses, due to the poor road infrastructure.
We can see the central square of the city, Marktplatz. It hosts local holidays, festivals and other events that gather people around the city. The camera is on the municipality building, Stadtverwaltung Brilon Rathaus.
