For many centuries, Willingen experienced great difficulties with development. It was hampered by various wars, economic crises, fires, and other nasty occurrences.

Today, we know this resort as the venue for one of the stages of the World Cup in ski jumping. Skiers compete in the southwestern part of the community, at Mühlenkopfschanze Stadium.

The panoramic camera shows us almost all of Willingen, as well as its ski slopes on Mount Ettelsberg (838 meters above sea level). At the top of this mountain, we can see the observation tower, Hochheideturm. The new attraction was built in a picturesque place, near Lake Ettelsberg, in 2002. Visitors to the 50-meter tower can enjoy the panorama of the Waldeck-Frankenberg area. On the northern side of the tower is a climbing wall, but you can also use a lift.

In 2007, a biathlon arena was built in Willingen, which now hosts national and international competitions.

Despite the fact that Willingen has a fairly modest size, you can talk about it for a very long time. There are many recreational facilities, such as a water park or toboggan run, as well as architectural landmarks, like a viaduct built during the First World War.
