Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The View of the Community from Mount Wank

We are looking at the German Garmisch-Partenkirchen from Mount Wank, which is located northeast of the town. This mountain is part of the Wettersteingebirge. Wankhaus took its first guests in 1911. Even in those days, the tourist flow increased significantly in this area of Bavaria. With the opening of the cableway in 1930, Wankhaus’ availability has increased dramatically.

From a height of 1780 meters above sea level, we can see not only Garmisch-Partenkirchen but also the Grainau suburbs, as well as a huge number of mountain tops in Germany.

On the left, we can see the second highest mountain in Germany, Hochwanner (2744 meters), followed by Alpspitze (2628 meters) and then the record holder, Zugspitze (2962 meters). You can climb all these mountains, as well as Mount Wank, by hiking trails laid to the very top.
